The Buell Homestead Farm Market is a ten-minute drive west of Sunbury and offers seasonal produce and flowers in the summer. They also grow pumpkins and mums and sell locally-harvested honey in the fall.
Outdoor Activities in Sunbury, Ohio
Parks: Sunbury is dotted with city parks, including Evening Street Park, The Park at General Rosecrans, Freedom Park and The Reservoirs. Hogback Ridge Park is full of walking and hiking trails that lead to a pond observation area. Alum Creek State Park is 10 miles west of Sunbury and has 3,000 feet of beach, campsites, and trails for hiking, cross country skiing and horseback riding.
Boating and fishing spots: Alum Creek Reservoir is a great spot if you want to fish for bass, bluegill, crappie, walleye and saugeye. State Route 3 will take you south to Lakes of the Woods in Galena. Hoover Reservoir is another local favorite fishing hole.
Golf courses: There are many golf courses in and around Sunbury, Ohio. Sunbury Golf Club and Arrowhead Lakes Golf Club are right in town, and Bent Tree Golf Club and Rattlesnake Ridge Golf Club are off Route 37 outside of Sunbury.
